The Texas Residential Construction Commission has mandated that all builders in the state of Texas provide a 10 year warranty on all structural components of a new home, a 2 year warranty on mechanicals and a 1 year Builder's warranty.

There are several warranty companies that a builder can use to provide this service. Home of Texas, 2 - 10 Homebuyer's warranty and others. The TRCC recommends and some warranty companys require a slab elevation report (comp-u-level) be provided with one elevation point given every 100 square feet.

A typical warranty inspection is done in phases such as a foundation inspection, a compulevel (slab elevation), a frame inspection, and a final inspection. These inspections are performed to ensure that all construction meets the minimum code requirements of the International Code Council (International Residential Code 2000) or updated code in some municipalities. These inspections generally are scheduled on a next day basis and can range in price from $75.00 to $125.00 per inspection (depending on distance and location).
